We went through all the "regular, not weird" flavors first--Chocolate Supreme, Hazelnut, Vanilla, etc...
Now it's still cold outside and all we have left is "Warm Oatmeal Cookie", "S-mores", and "Arctic White". I can't see myself drinking an oatmeal cookie or a S-more, so we opted for Arctic White.
Now, I am not a white chocolate fan at all. First, is it really chocolate? It reminds me of a type of white fudge called "divinity", and I never was a fan of that at all. It seems to me that if you take the cocoa out of chocolate all you have left is fat, and that is never appetizing.
But I was game (and cold) so I boiled the water, mixed me a cup, and added a few tiny marshmallows for luck. Surprise! Not only did the drink look beautiful with the tiny white marshmallows floating on the top, (ala Martha Stewart decor) it tasted quite good. Must be all the additives the food marketing specialists are so fond of.
So, I have tried a new thing, and it was a Good Thing. I guess I won't throw those packets away after all. I still can't see myself wolfing down a Nestle White Chocolate bar, however, and I guess that is another Good Thing!
Maybe someone out there can tell me how white chocolate is classified as chocolate, and when it came to be. I certainly haven't heard of it until the last few years. But it has now encroached upon my world, and I have added it to the ever-growing multitudes of New Things I am daily faced with. Live long enough, they say....
